8/21/15: VLP Receives Grant to Help HIV Positive Families

Volunteer Lawyers Project received $196,113 to continue our Legal Services for Positive Families & Individuals. We assist Positive people with various civil legal issues, including: health care, family law, discrimination, confidentiality, debt/credit, housing, public benefits, tax issues and producing wills. “This funding helps ensure that HIV-positive individuals and their families have access to the services and supports that can sometimes be difficult to obtain,” – New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker. 7/8/15: VLP is awarded New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services grant to establish a Regional Immigration Assistance Center!

VLP’s Supervising Immigration Attorney, Sophie Feal, is extremely pleased to announce that VLP, in collaboration with Legal Aid of Rochester under the supervision of Immigration Attorney Walter H. Ruehle, has been awarded a grant from the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services (through Erie County) to establish a Regional Immigration Assistance Center.
