Buffalo State Professor Wins VLP Case
Congratulations to Buffalo State College Political Science Professor, and practicing attorney, William Altreuter, for handling and winning his first pro bono immigration case on behalf of VLP’s Immigration Program! Prof. Altreuter saved the lawful permanent residency of a young man who was legally admitted to the U.S. as a child. The man was raised in New York State and was the spouse of a U.S. citizen. He was in removal proceedings due to a nonviolent misdemeanor conviction committed many years earlier. Ramon Irizarry, Esq., immigration staff attorney, had successfully obtained a bond for the client’s release from detention. The release allowed our client to attend his college graduation last May and to be present for the birth of his first child. Mr. Irizarry mentored Prof. Altreuter through the removal process. Both attorneys did an excellent job for a deserving client. Thank you, Prof. Altreuter.
