Welcome to the Volunteer Lawyers Project
The Erie County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, Inc., provides free civil legal services to low income households in Western New York.
After 32 years, more than 2,000 local attorneys have represented over 30,000 clients on a pro bono basis. During that period, VLP (with its staff and volunteers) has represented over 60,000 clients and provided information and referral to approximately 72,000 more people.
This work has had incredibly important consequences for our clients and their families. We have kept families from becoming homeless through defense of tax foreclosures and evictions. We helped unaccompanied minors and immigrant victims of human trafficking receive fair treatment under the immigration law.
These are only a few examples of the cases we handle. In each case, we witness a positive impact in the lives of our clients and their families. VLP helps people overcome legal matters so they can return to their focus to supporting their families and keeping them safe.
VLP commends its staff, Board, volunteers, funders and everyone who has helped us achieve success. We could not have such a positive impact on the community without the support of each any everyone of you.
Thank you for helping us speak for those who are not heard.
